Bring the water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the oats and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then remove from heat, cover, and let rest for 5 minutes.

Concurrently, cook and crumble the sausage base. Add flavorings if using plain meat (soy sauce, worchestershire, garlic powder, red pepper flake, black pepper, and perhaps a touch of maple syrup. Consider also some dried sage if using plain turkey as the base).

Put oatmeal in bowls, top with half the cheese, then the meat, then the other half of the cheese before sprinking on green onion garnish of delish.

Calories: 430 per half-recipe. Makes a satisfying, good-macro, not too voluminous breakfast in about 30-40 minutes.
